The importance of purchasing has increased rapidly. In fiscal 2006/07, the Group purchased goods and services worth around €33 billion. Increasing globalization and outsourcing are reinforcing this trend, placing ever more importance on the expertise of our employees. The team-based worldwide cooperation among our employees in purchasing helps unlock synergy potential and promote company-wide knowledge sharing. The success of our purchasing is based on three pillars:
