Ruhr Piano Festival
Piano music all summer long: ThyssenKrupp supports the Ruhr Piano Festival.
ThyssenKrupp has been supporting the Ruhr Piano Festival for many years. From May 15 to July 26, 2008, 124 pianists performe over 300 compositions in 16 different cities for 20th time by now. The 2008 Piano Festival features world-class pianists including Pierre-Laurent Almard, Alfred Brendel, Lang Lang, Grigori Sokolov and Alexey Zouver. Even to 80th birthdays will be celebrated on the festival this year; by former laureate Leon Fleisher and by jazz legend Paul Kuhn who will who will team up with three young jazz trios
The 2008 will once again feature performances by internationally acclaimed pianists, jazz icons and numerous new discoveries including the winners of international competitions for young musicians. The Piano Festival is organized by Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet, an initiative to promote the Ruhr area, of which ThyssenKrupp is a member.
